    My passion lies in bridging cultures through art, design, science, education, business, and public policy. Born in China, I spent my childhood in the 1980s discovering the wider world through books and became captivated by the richness of civilizations across the globe. Driven by curiosity, I pursued higher education in different parts of the world, eventually earning a PhD from New York University’s Stern School of Business. The many nights I spent in libraries in Shanghai, Toronto, New York, and Italy—reading, writing, and conducting research—remain among my most cherished memories. Over time, I came to realize that the fields I studied, including design, art, technology, management, and public policy, could connect people across cultures and help address humanity’s shared challenges. I went on to become a university professor and have taught in academic programs in the United States, Canada, Italy, Denmark, Finland, China, and the United Kingdom. My professional experience also includes roles at IBM in New York and at STAR, now part of Disney, in Hong Kong, as well as advising multinational corporations such as Deloitte, governments, and nonprofit organizations around the world. Each year, I spend time with family and friends in Italy, where I continue to find inspiration in the country’s art, design, creativity, and culture.
