"FemTech" refers to an emerging category of technologies designed to support women's health. The term was coined in 2016 by entrepreneur Ida Tin, founder of the menstrual tracking app Clue. Over the past decade, FemTech has gained increasing attention among healthcare practitioners, researchers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and everyday users. Today, it represents a dynamic frontier of innovation, encompassing wearable devices, medical diagnostics, reproductive health technologies, digital health platforms, and, increasingly, tools enabled by artificial intelligence (AI).

The FemTech market has rapidly evolved...

A plump blue whale, the logo of DeepSeek, emerged under the world's watch on January 20, 2025, and made waves.

The generative AI chatbot launched by the China-based AI company DeepSeek delivered performance comparable to established AI tools, such as ChatGPT, in a number of important tasks, at a training cost of a small fraction of the latter, using older processors instead of the latest models developed by NVidia.

The impact of DeepSeek was immediately visible. Within a week, DeepSeek surpassed ChatGPT as the most-downloaded free app on the iOS App Store in the United States. By early February, the app became the...

During this Lunar New Year, or 'Spring Festival' celebrating the beginning of the Year of the Dragon, I spent several days in Asia. On the last evening of the trip, before my flight returning from Hong Kong to the other side of the globe, I decided to spend the last few hours visiting the Hong Kong Museum of Art to view an exhibition co-organized by the Uffizi Galleries from Florence, Italy.
Titian's spring Goddess in the Spring Festival
The exhibition was titled 'The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Titian and the Venetian Renaissance from the Uffizi,' displaying fifty works by some of the greatest painters in history,...

Immagine di Ada Lovelace elaborata in contesto moderno dall'AI[/caption]

Today, artificial intelligence is ubiquitous. AI, and more generally, computer algorithms, are becoming the backbone of the global economy and society. Have you ever wondered: who wrote the world's first computer algorithm?

Her name was Ada Lovelace.
Composing the World’s First Computer Program
Ada Lovelace (1815-1852) was the child of the Romantic poet Lord Byron and Annabella Milbanke Byron. With a keen interest in mathematics, Ada Lovelace was introduced in the 1830s to the mathematician Charles Babbage. Babbage was the inventor of the...
